Stretch Marks

Women and men alike experience skin issues, and one major skin problem is the not so attractive stretch marks. Summer is the season to lose the clothes, put the bikini or swimsuit on, and run into the water. A lot of women and men are worried about exposing their skin- not only because of sun exposure concerns- but because of their unattractive stretch marks. Tanning the skin will help to reduce the visibility of the stretch marks, but it won’t hide them forever. When you notice that you have stretch marks, you probably have, or had, some sagging skin in those areas at some point.  Having children can increase the chance of getting stretch marks, along with any rapid weight gain/loss. The biggest reason for stretch marks is having skin that is not tight enough. The goal is to tighten the skin. As we age, we can see that our skin becomes saggy in areas, and needs tightened. To have stretch marks that are less visible, it is a good idea to start with a skin regimine along with plenty of exercise. Toning the skin on the inside and out will help “hide” the stretch marks. Exercise is a good way to get rid of those marks. Toning exercises are the best, because they will help tighten the skin. There are no magic creams or potions, but there are some home and spa remedies that may work.Nutrition plays a huge role in the occurrence of stretch marks. Antioxidants will help tighten the skin, so make sure to have plenty of blueberries, broccoli, and Vitamin C rich foods.  Red wine, green tea, and cocoa will also help give your body more free-radical fighting power. Many topical items, including Vitamin E oil, coconut oil, and cocoa butter will all help the elasticity on the skins surface, thus “fading” out the stretch marks. So, if you sit all day at the computer desk, remember to drink and eat a lot of antioxidants, then after work hit the gym for cardio and toning. When you have your day off from work, do some hiking, or play tennis. Massaging the skin improves capillary circulation, and promotes new tissue growth, which could help make stretch marks less visible. Therefore, remember to make your spa appointment  for a Body Scrub to help detox the body!
